Based out of Ottawa, Ontario, Meracus was formed originally under the name "Same As You" in late 2004. However in an ironic twist of fate, another band had selected that name already. In addition to the name change, the band has experienced some changes in band members over the past two years. The core members, Ryan White and Paul Lesnick have remained while they have welcomed bassist Chris Doherty and most recently drummer Tyler Bradley to the band.
The current name "Meracus" is the latin term for pure or puirty and as well is an affirmation that where you start is not always where you're going. This rings true for Meracus as they continue on a path to rock utopia while writing inspiring and unique music.
